[Hi5] 1st night in ROME.... Phewww

Salam 2 all readers...
It was a tiring and but AWESOME night..... Anyways, we arrived at Rome Fiumicino at around 1.30 p.m. by Egyptair. From there, a shuttle bus operating at 4 Euro (the cheapest company, TERRAVISION) per person took us from the aiport to the Termini (bus stop) in city center. It was quite a long journey because it took us around 45 minutes to get from the airport to the city center.

Then, it was time to find the hostel.... it was not that hard to find the hostel based on the directions given from the web and the clearly stated name of the streets. Just guess what's the name of the hostel.... It is IVANHOE, one of the best and economical hostel in Rome. Renting at around 10 Euros per night, it provided us with most of the hostel facilities including the free WIFI. We also met few senior Malaysians that were really merry to chat with us and interesting receptionist, Isa, who is a Muslim. He really helped us a lot looking for Masjid and determining the direction of Kaabah.

The excitement came at night as we were wandering around the city of Rome... We departed before the Isya' prayer at around 7.00 p.m. The first stop was the Piazza del Quirinale but it seemed that this building was under some kind of renovation. Our guide, Amir told us that this building is used for exhibitions in Italy. Then, we went to the Fontana of Trevi, the most famous fountain and if you had seen the Lizzie McGuire movie, there was a scene at this place. It was told that the second coin you throw into the fountain, you will fall in love with an Italian. And the third coin will bring you to the marriage. The next stop is the Pantheon, a building for religious ritual during the time of Roman empire. Unlucky of us because we arived shortly after it was closed. Actually, there were not much to be told about except that we were just walking all along and contemplating on the beautiful architecture of the buildings we found. There were few squares (Piazza), such as the Piazza Navona and Piazza del Popolo. We also walked around Via del Corso, where famous boutiques can be found such as Adidas, Nike, Saldi, H&M and many more. The last stop is the Spanish steps nearby the Spanish embassy. It was like taking a preview of the Spanish buiding before we actually go there by ourselves. And, do you know when did we finish our journey? It was 11 p.m. late at night. It was a 4 hours journey. Our legs were almost cramp and after having some IndoMee (so pity : ( .... we all fell asleep in exhaustion with the sense of satisfaction.

After all, it was not a good time to walk around Rome at night because it is freezing cold plus the sites are closed at night. But it was not a disappointment as night is a good time to take pictures with all the lighting shining on the beatiful buildings. It is also not hard to wander in Rome as it is not that big and the hostel provides us with map to help us...

Just wait for our next journey... Ciao :)
